Have you noticed that you still have a dirty grill that needs to be cleaned after you have enjoyed a barbecue? Is there any good way to help us clean our stainless steel grill?
First and foremost is to use a non-toxic substance to clean rusted grills, as they will be used to cook the ingredients. Vinegar and salt are both edible substances and also have the function of removing rust. Combine 2 cups vinegar and 1 cup salt in a bowl. Put the rusted grate in a large heavy-duty trash bag. Pour the vinegar and salt into the bag and tie. Lay the bag flat on the ground and let the grill soak overnight. After soaking, wipe off the rust with an old rag. The salt should act as a mild abrasive to remove rust.
Grill grates need to be seasoned like a wok. The more you cook, the less meat, as the fat in the meat lubricates the ingredients. Fat also prevents rusting. Lubricate and season the grate with vegetable oil after each use. Aerosol cans that use vegetable oils are prohibited.
Brush the grill grates with a soft brush to remove as much rust as possible. Put your grate on the grill and drizzle with baking soda. Open the roast and watch as the baking soda starts to bubble and remove the rust. Turn off the grill and let it cool down. Brush the frame again with a soft brush.
Wrap a piece of sandpaper around each rung of the rusted grill grate, sanding it up and down. This will effectively remove rust, but be careful as it will also scratch the grille surface.
